Delegates of the FISU World University Sports Federation went on an inspection visit to Split to meet with part of the organizing committee of the FISU World Cheerleading championship which awaits us in August next year.
The three-day visit included a tour of the Gripe Hall, where the competition will be held, the accommodation facilities of the Franjo Tuđman Student Dormitory, and other key places for the organization of the event.
The meetings and checks were attended by Karl Olson, technical delegate of FISU cheerleading, Alejandro Guerra, sports director for the organization of FISU championships and Chloe Dragani, sports assistant for the organization of championships. In front of the OC and Croatian UniSport Team Slavica Donkov, sports manager, Ivan Tustonjić and Magdalena Ramljak welcomed the guests.
The competition days of the FISU Cheerleading will be held on August 2-4, 2024 and is only the second such competition ever. The Polish city of Lodz hosted the first edition in 2018 when competitors from 13 countries and 4 continents took part. The 2020 edition in Korea was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so Split will make history once again, hopefully with an even larger number of participants. It will be another exciting and unforgettable student event in the heart of Split in the middle of the tourist season and as a prelude to future competitions that the Split University Sports Association is preparing, such as the European University Games in 2028.
